Lewis and Clark County law enforcement officials are near the end of their investigation into the death of Brandy Pavitt, 35, from Helena.Â
Pavitt died in mid-July while kayaking on the Missouri River in Lewis and Clark County, near Holter Lake.Â
The coroner’s report listed drowning as the cause of Pavitt’s death. An autopsy showed Pavitt’s blood alcohol content was .399, five times the legal limit, Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton said in a text on Wednesday.
“That high of a blood alcohol [content] would most likely cause impairment with hand-eye coordination,” Dutton said, adding that Pavitt’s balance would have also been effected.Â
Officials in July reported another boater had discovered Pavitt’s body downstream of the Wolf Creek Bridge. Pavitt’s husband told undersheriff Jason Grimmis she had been wearing a life vest but took it off because it was too hot.Â
