Jim Bloodhart, a former U.S. Marine and member of the local Marine Corps League Sgt. Moses D. Rocha Detachment #1287, is happy to announce that the detachment is sponsoring this Toys For Tots drive again this year. Jim will also be the Chaves County Toys For Tots coordinator for 2017.
The Marine Toys For Tots Foundation is proud of the fact that for 2011 through 2014, it has had a 97% donation success rate, far exceeding it’s projected outcome. This means that for every dollar donated, 97 cents goes to the children, including the values of toys. Chaves County Toys For Tots is delighted to report that the 2015-2016 campaign has achieved a 100% donation success rate and that none of the donations went to the wages of Toys For Tots Foundation employees. This means that the 700+ individual local campaigns throughout the U.S., were manned strictly by volunteers.
The local Toys For Tots drive is currently on going through December 16, 2017. We have a larger than ever expectation of meeting the demands of our local children. During this campaign, we’re doing whatever it takes to meet the challenge of making sure that the less fortunate children of this community have a good Christmas.
Remember, all donations, toys and monies stay in Chaves County.
Last year, we distributed over 4,400 toys, books and stocking stuffers to over 1,950 children. The 2016 drive was our best ever in Chaves County. We were able to collect sufficient toy donations from our local communities to deliver these well-received toys for the children. We plan on exceeding that level this 2017 toy drive so we’re asking each person in our community to join with the Marine Corps Reserve and its Toys For Tots volunteers to help make the campaign a huge success.
To receive a shiny new toy during the holidays can mean the difference in the fulfilled dreams and hopes of our children now and in the future.
