Top sophomore football recruits in Orange County emerging early – Orange County Register

The highlights are piling up. So are the scholarship offers. The high school football season has only reached its midpoint but many of Orange County’s top sophomore recruits have already emerged.

Here’s a look at 15 of the top players to watch in the class of 2020 (listed alphabetically):

Zion Alefosio, Mater Dei, S: Alefosio (6-0, 200) was Mater Dei’s pick to shadow Bishop Gorman monster tight end Cedric Tillman in the second half of the teams’ early-season national showdown. That’s how much the Monarchs value the physicality of the St. John Bosco transfer.

Jacobah Fuamatu, La Habra, LB: San Jose State offered Fuamatu in July but his stock will rise because of the elite speed he has displayed this fall. He has racked up 45 tackles and recorded nine quarterback hurries. Fuamatu’s pursuit range seems almost endless.

Ethan Garbers, Corona del Mar: Garbers (6-2, 185), the younger brother of Cal quarterback Chase Garbers, has been quiet on the varsity level but he showed a quick release and strong arm in the Sea Kings’ scrimmage against Huntington Beach. He’s a player worth remembering.
