Take control of your kitchen with Alton Brown’s ‘Eat Your Science’ tour stop on March 31

Food as entertainment never gets cold, said Alton Brown, professional chef and Food Network regular.

Brown, who is recognized as the host of “Good Eats” and “Next Iron Chef,” is bringing his culinary expertise to Salt Lake City’s Abravanel Hall on March 31 as part of the variety show, “Eat Your Science.”

Brown said that this tour is his way of using food to tell stories for families around the country. Because it is a variety show, Brown said there will be something for everyone in the audience.

“Food is one of the only unifiers in our culture,” Brown said in an interview with the Deseret News. “It is a connective tissue from us to our heritage, to the Earth and to each other.”

The show’s website, altonbrowntour.com, describes the tour as a series of culinary variety shows featuring large-scale food demonstrations, live music, audience interaction and multimedia shenanigans.

“All I will reveal is that people will see things that human eyes have never beheld,” Brown said.

Brown warned that his show can get a bit wild and that the first few rows may be in danger of getting some kind of food debris on them during the performance.

According to Brown, “Eat Your Science” focuses on the scientific side of the kitchen. He said that grasping the basics of what is happening in the kitchen helps him have more power as a chef.
