“Fake” demo reels
“So I’m in desperate need of a demo reel, but have been having trouble getting auditions for indie/short stuff on AA/Backstage. I have an (OK) agent, great headshots, solid resume with lots of training, but am stuck in the catch-22 of lacking a reel (and can’t get auditions due to lack of a reel).

“So I’m considering going the ‘fake’ demo reel route, with someone like L.A Demo Reels or the like. Basically, they write scenes for you, hire production staff/actors, and create a reel for you. It’s not the best, I admit, but hell – it’s something. Does anyone have any experience with studios like these? Any studios you’d recommend?” —Gladstone

Craziest, worst, and best survival jobs you’ve had?
“Since moving to NYC to pursue acting, I’ve been a dog walker, worked at Starbucks, and as of recently, started doing some freelance graphic design for friends’ small businesses back in CA.

“What have some of you other forum folks done to get by over the years? Anything crazy, awful, or actually great? Share here so that we can pick each others’ brains!” —HufflepuffOverlord
