JSerra bats provide a boost in important win over Mater Dei – Orange County Register

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO >> Winning a series in the competitive Trinity League is difficult, and it will almost certainly determine tiebreakers at the end of the regular season.

No. 9 JSerra beat No. 4 Mater Dei,10-5, on Friday in a Trinity League game at JSerra High to win two out of the three games in the season series against the Monarchs.

“There is so much parity in this league, so anytime you win a series, it’s big,” JSerra coach Brett Kay said. “I thought this was the biggest game of the year for us. I thought we competed really well.”

JSerra (12-10, 5-4) built its lead up to 3-0 in the third inning with a run-scoring triple by Michael Curialle.

Mater Dei (14-9, 5-4) responded by tying the score in the fourth. Jonathan Schiffer hit a two-run home run and Chad Call hit a run-scoring single.
