Irvine Ranch remains nation’s top-selling new-home community – Orange County Register

The Irvine Ranch continues to be the nation’s top-selling master-planned housing community.

The RCLCO consultancy reports Irvine Co.’s projects in north Irvine sold 1,088 homes in the first half of 2017 vs. 989 a year ago, or a 10 percent jump. Irvine Ranch was ranked No. 1 in this new-home community list for all of 2016 by RCLCO.

Three other Orange County developments moved up RCLCO’s Top 50 rankings.

Great Park Neighborhoods: The project on the old military base in Irvine came in at No. 8 with 466 homes sold vs. 270 a year ago, or a 73 percent jump. It ranked 12th year ago.

Rancho Mission Viejo: On land near San Juan Capistrano, it was No. 11 with 340 sold vs. 242 a year ago, or a 40 percent jump. It ranked 15th a year ago.

Baker Ranch: The Lake Forest community came in at No. 12 with 318 sold vs. 228 a year ago, or a 39 percent jump. That garnered a No. 17 ranking.

While Irvine Co. remains the dominant housing-community developer in Orange County, its grip on the market is waning a bit. In 2017’s first six months, the real estate giant’s share of sales among local master-planned communities was 49 percent vs. 57 percent a year earlier.
