The public can get one of its first looks at the new Cowork Annex when the collaborative workspace at 13 Palafox Place in downtown Pensacola opens its doors for the Oct. 20 Gallery Night to showcase work from local graffiti and street artists.

Organized through a collaboration with Leader Art Consultants, the Cowork Annex’s gallery will offer attendees a peek at the new workspace spanning more than 10,000 square feet on the second floor of the historic Brent Building.

It will also provide an opportunity to sample a variety of graffiti-style pieces, an ever-expanding medium of contemporary art, said Alexis Leader, director of Leader Art Consultants, a Pensacola art advisory firm.

“Local muralists, graffiti and street artists are in need of equal opportunities to exhibit their work,” she said about the October gallery. “It’s why pop-ups like this, as well as events like Cubed Gulf Coast and organizations like Art Beyond Walls, are key in shaping Pensacola’s growing street and public art scene. This urban movement is creating an international culture that is evolving from alleyways to corporate art collections.”
