Forget football, slapping insignias on ‘Old Glory’ does flag injustice – Orange County Register

Instead of fretting over what football players do, from where I stand it’s more important to remember how we should treat Old Glory.
It’s gotten so bad that giant companies such as Amazon brazenly sell the Stars and Stripes with emblems imprinted over the red, white and blue.
For those of you who never learned, or forgot, how to respect the flag of the United States of America, that’s called defacing the flag.
Let me spell it out.
U.S. code states: “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.”
That’s right, for less than 20 bucks, plus $4.99 shipping, you can fly a flag that disrespects our country’s symbol of freedom and liberty that countless men and women died defending.
