Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce to host two candidate forums | Local News

Two candidate forums are set for October for the public to learn more about the 2017 municipal candidates in Hamilton and Stevensville.

The forums are being hosted by the Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce.

While Darby also is electing a mayor and council members, the inability of mayoral candidate Buck Titus to attend any of the proposed meeting dates led to that venue being dropped, according to Pat Easley, the chamber’s office manager.

“We tried to get one in Darby. JC (McDowell) was able to attend, but once we got ahold of buck Titus he wasn’t available,” she said, adding that the Darby candidates are welcome to attend and participate at the other forums.

McDowell and Titus are vying for the Darby mayoral seat.

The first forum is on Oct. 5 in the Stevensville High multipurpose room. The second forum will be held Oct. 11 at the Hamilton Middle School Auditorium.

Easley said before each forum, they will have a “meet and greet” from 6:15 to 7 p.m., where the public can meet the candidates and ask questions prior to the actual forum. At 7 p.m., they will ask pre-selected questions for each candidate.

Steve Fullerton will be the moderator.
