SWANNANOA – Warren Wilson College will soon begin construction on the college’s first new instructional building in more than 15 years.

The total cost of the project is $6 million. That includes construction, design fees as well as furniture and other costs. The college expects to break ground in April on the site where Carson Hall used to stand.

The new building will house classroom space for social sciences and other programs and faculty offices. It will provide flexible space that can hold larger groups and events as needed.

“This isn’t really just a 9-to-5 building,” Warren Wilson College President Steve Solnick said in a recent interview. “So student clubs and activities, we hope will be meeting in there. It’s a great space for special events. Conferences we hope will use it.”
