The statistics about the pet overpopulation crisis are staggering. There are about 70 million stray animals living in the U.S. and of those, only about six to eight million cats and dogs enter the nation’s 3,500 shelters every year, according to the Humane Society of the United States. Of those, about three to four million cats and dogs are adopted from shelters each year … and often dogs and cats are brought back to the shelter after being surrendered by their guardians.

Curious as to why there was a carrier on the sidewalk, he approached and came across a sad discovery: a cat was inside the carrier, left to somehow fend for herself in the scorching sun.
The feline had been abandoned with all of her toys and when the kind man was checking to see if the cat was okay, he noticed the cat’s owner dumping the last of the cat’s possessions, a cat tree, outside.
The kind passerby was understandably worried and called the Celia Hammond Animal Trust, an animal shelter in London, England to let them know about the cat’s situation. Volunteers from the Celia Hammond Animal Trust were able to meet the man at a local train station to get the cat, named Marcus, to safety.
Despite being abandoned, Marcus seems to be doing well. Thanks to a microchip, his former owner was identified. He said he simply no longer wanted to take care of the cat. Unbelievable! But we are so glad Marcus is now safe and will soon find the forever family he deserves.
We’re so glad that Marcus was given a second chance and compassionate people helped him find safety. This gorgeous boy definitely deserves it and we wish him the best of…
