The top two teams from Serie A last season go head-to-head in the International Champions Cup this weekend when Juventus take on Roma.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men suffered bitter disappointment as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League final back in May but, on the domestic scene, Juventus were utterly dominant once again last term.

The Old Lady swept to a sixth successive Scudetto and doubled their domestic delight by claiming victory in the Coppa Italia too. Juventus were beaten in their opening International Champions Cup match against Barcelona, but bounced back by enjoying an exciting 3-2 win against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

The Italian champions will certainly fancy their chances of ending their participation in this competition with victory against a familiar foe and Betfair Sportsbook make Allegri’s men their 21/20 (2.05) favourites to come out on top.

Roma, however, will be desperate to prove a point having spent last season behind Juventus and they will feel that this fixture provides an excellent opportunity to lay down a marker ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Luciano Spalletti, of course, departed Roma for Inter earlier this summer and, so, it is Eusebio Di Francesco who will take up the reins for his first meeting with the Italian champions since making the switch from Sassuolo last month.

Francesco Totti, so long Roma’s talisman, is another notable absentee following his retirement from the game at the end of last season, but Di Francesco’s men can still rely upon the scoring prowess of Edin Dzeko, the former Manchester City striker who notched 29 Serie A goals last term.
