We knew something was up the second he arrived on the scene at OHN. Sagan has raced with hairy legs before, but his new scraggly beard and Fabio-esque mane of hair is a much more noticeable look on the start line.
By the end of the race Saturday, he’d come in second once again to Greg Van Avermaet—and we got to see a rare side of him. He made Sporza reporters work hard for answers in a quizzical post-race interview: Asked when the race was lost, he simply replied, “No,” forcing the interviewer to probe for a fuller answer as Sagan casually picks the grit out of the corners of his eyes.
“Not every day, I can win,” he says before somewhat berating the reporter for suggesting that he had stomach problems during the race. “I think it is normal for people go to the toilet,” he says dryly:
