Pacifica no match for Norco in Division 1 quarterfinal – Orange County Register

NORCO – It has been said that hitting is contagious. It was viral Thursday for Norco’s softball team.

Norco looked every bit the No. 1 team in the nation, as it pounded out 26 hits to rout Pacifica, 20-2, in a CIF-Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinal playoff game.

Every starter had at least two hits and drove in at least one run for the Cougars (32-0).

“This is playoff time, and I was very impressed with the way our girls kept going today,” Norco coach Rick Robinson said. “This is the team we have been waiting to see for a couple of weeks now. It’s how we played at the start of the season and what we need to finish this.”

Norco didn’t waste any time lighting up the scoreboard. The Cougars loaded the bases with one out in the first inning, and Paige Smith laced a double to the opposite field to bring in the first two runs. Sierra Marshall, Bianca Gonzalez, Raegan Cheyne, Naomi Hernandez and Mikayla…
