MHS Forensics and Debate Team Wins 3rd Place at Searcy Tournament

Sixteen members of the MHS Forensics and Debate team traveled to Searcy, Arkansas, this weekend to compete in the Searcy Lion’s Pride Classic Tournament.

Overall, the team earned the 3rd place sweepstakes trophy.  Students who also received recognition are as follows:

Superior performances:  Keeton Orrell/Jordan Smith in Duo Interpretation and Edward Gregory in Poetry Interpretation.

Excellent performances:  Hannah Nixon and Jordan Smith in Poetry Interpretation, Jordan Smith and Will Witt in Storytelling, and Joseph Gentry/Edward Gregory in Duet Improvisation.

Students advancing beyond the preliminary rounds include the following:

Zadrian Goodwin advanced to Double-Octofinals in IPDA Debate.

Joseph Gentry/Edward Gregory advanced to Semi-finals in Duet Improvisation.

Edward Gregory advanced to Semi-finals in Poetry Interpretation.

Jordan Smith and Will Witt advanced to Semi-finals in Storytelling.
