Metro’s Blue and Orange line trains sharing track after person is struck by train at L’Enfant Plaza

Metro said trains are sharing a track on the Blue and Orange lines between Smithsonian and Federal Center SW stations.

This comes after a person was struck by a train at L’Enfant Plaza.

Riders should expect continued delays in both directions of the lines.

Silver Line trains are only running between Wiehle/Reston and Ballston.

Metro said the person who was struck at L’Enfant Plaza intentionally jumped in front of a train and that they are currently in a rescue operation.

Metro said it is suspending service on its Blue and Orange lines after a person was struck by a train at the L’Enfant Plaza station. Bus service is being requested for riders.

For those riders going to Virginia, Metro recommends using the Yellow Line.

Metro Transit Police are responding to a person struck by a train at the L’Enfant Plaza station.

Riders should expect delays on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines. The incident was reported on the lower level of the station.

Other details weren’t immediately available. In a Twitter message, transit police said the “incident is intentional, per video review.”
