Peanut butter has been known for its marvelous health benefits. Not only is it an excellent source of vitamin E and fiber but it is also high in folate and protein. In addition, it contains tryptophan that helps to fight depression.
If you are a fan of peanut butter, why donât you try making this food item at your own home? Homemade peanut butter tastes better compared to the commercial peanut butter. It is also healthier because it contains no preservatives, hydrogenated shortening and trans-fats. Especially, making your own peanut butter will save you money because it does not require a lot of ingredients and is easy to make.
Following is the recipe to make peanut butter.
1. Prepare ingredients
To make natural peanut butter in your own kitchen, you need the following ingredients:
– 2 cups of shelled peanuts
– 1 1/2 teaspoons of any vegetable oil (sunflower oil, safflower oil, peanut oil, etc.)
– pinch of salt (if desired)
– 1/2 teaspoon of sugar (if desired)
2. Bake the peanuts
The first step to make your perfect homemade peanut butter is roasting the peanuts. After spreading the peanuts evenly on a baking pan, you bake them in an oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 6-8 minutes. Remember to stir the peanuts every 2 minutes to ensure that they donât burn. Allow the peanuts to cool after roasting.
3. Grind the peanuts
The next step after the peanuts cool down is grinding them. Pour the 2 cups of roasted peanuts into the food processor. Add 1.5 teaspoon of vegetable oils for making a smooth butter. Grind them until the mixture is finely chopped and forms a ball.
4. Scrape the peanuts
When the peanuts are grinded in the food processor, they tend to move out of the range of the blade where they canât be grounded. Therefore, you need to scrape the peanuts down from the food processor bowl into the bottom to mix them back. Then you can continue grinding the mixture until it is smooth.
5. Add salt or sugar
