Amsterdam wraps up play in ENY Last Man Standing tournament

The Twin Town Devil Cats scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning en route to a 4-2 victory over Amsterdam in an Eastern New York Travel League 11/12+ AAA Last Man Standing tournament elimination game Sunday at Isabel’s Field.

The Devil Cats were later eliminated from tournament play after dropping a 10-0 decision to the SGTA Diamond Dawgs later Sunday at Isabel’s Field. The Diamond Dawgs will play the Tri-City Bombers in the semifinals at Ballston Spa’s Doubleday Field at 6 p.m. A field of nine teams started the tournament on Friday night.

T.J. Platt lined two singles and Kody Rogers, Luke Tambasco, Noah Marshall, D.J. Wallace and Anthony Antonelli chipped in with a single apiece to lead Amsterdam.

Marshall pitched five innings and allowed four runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked none. Kody Rogers pitched an inning and struck out all three batters.

On Saturday, Amsterdam lost 16-11 to the Tri-City Bombers at Isabel’s Field. The Rams trailed by as many as 10 runs, 16-6 before storming back with a six-run outburst in the sixth inning.

Rogers had a home run and two singles, Ryan Reagan had three singles, Marshall added a home run and single, Luke Tambasco lined two singles and Spencer Cotugno, Derek Goebel, K.J. Constantino, Anthony DiCaterino and Antonelli chipped in with a single apiece.
