How shifts in excitation-inhibition balance may lead to psychiatric disorders

In a special issue of Biological Psychiatry titled “Cortical Excitation-Inhibition Balance and Dysfunction in Psychiatric Disorders”, guest editors Dr. Alan Anticevic and Dr. John Murray, both of Yale University, bring together seven reviews that highlight advancements in understanding the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signaling in the brain, and what might happen when it goes awry. Storms continue in Alabama; will there be more tonight?

Monday, May 1st, 2017:

Strong storms continue to make their way through Alabama as of Sunday evening. As of 6:45 p.m. rain and storms continued over much of the state, with rain clearing out of parts of west-central and northwest Alabama. The storms to the north have weakened. The ones to the south still are packing a punch. The National Weather Service issued multiple tornado warnings earlier today — mainly in west and north Alabama. In addition there have been multiple severe thunderstorm warnings and reports of storm damage and flooding across the state.
